3D Pen Kit to Buy in March 2024: my Recommendation
With the 3D pen market continuously evolving, I find it essential to update my recommendations for those looking to purchase a 3D pen kit, especially here in Switzerland. While I shared my previous picks back in November, the ever-changing nature of the market prompts a fresh look as of March 2024.
After scouring the current offerings, I've set my sights on a particular kit available on Amazon.de. I'll be ordering it myself for use in my upcoming classes with the kids. Stay tuned for an unpacking video to see it in action!
So, why this kit? For starters, the pen model included is one of the easiest and most durable options I've come across, suitable for users of all ages. It's compatible with a wide range of filament types, ensuring versatility in your creations. From the product photos, it also appears to come with a generous selection of colors, to which I'd recommend adding a black filament spool.
Additionally, the kit includes a sleek case that seems perfect for keeping everything organized and portable. Not only does this make the setup more attractive, but it also ensures that you can take your creative endeavors anywhere with ease.
In conclusion, whether you're a beginner or an experienced 3D pen user, this kit stands out for its ease of use, durability, and the thoughtful inclusion of a variety of colors and a handy case. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore the world of 3D drawing or to add a reliable tool to their artistic arsenal.
Stay creative and happy drawing!

Personal Insights: Choosing a 3D Pen
for your kid
The world of 3D pens is as diverse as it is fascinating, offering a wide array of models, packages, and pricing options. It's quite a landscape to navigate: some pens come with filament included, others don't; some feature extra tools, templates, or both, while others keep it simple.
And let's talk about the prices – they vary dramatically, sometimes daily. In my own experience, I've purchased even the same model at prices ranging from 20 to 80 CHF!
Keeping up with the ever-changing market can be challenging, but I'm committed to monitoring the main websites and update the main info here.
For now (November 30, 2023), my recommendation, particularly for children's use, is straightforward:
If you can't get your hands on Model A, typically available at LIDL once or twice a year, go for Model B plus a spool of black filament or a pack with more colors.
This combination has been a reliable choice with the kids, striking the right balance between quality, ease of use, and cost-effectiveness for young, aspiring 3D artists.
Shops with 3d pens and plastic refills:
Different Models
Model A - 10/10 Super and the starter kit has many colors
Unfortunately we cannot predict when LIDL will sell it next time (usually 1-2 per year)
Model B - 8/10 Pen is really good but need to buy separately filaments ASAP
Model C - 5/10 Kit is cool but the Pen can have hiccups
Model D - 5/10 not compatible with all the filaments
Model E - 4/10 very delicate
Model C - 6/10 needs specific filaments
